I.CARE About Coral

We empower recreational divers through education and training to become citizen scientists. Through a network of dive shops in the Keys, we take out vacationing and local divers every week to help us in our rebuilding efforts. These divers will learn all about coral, the history of reefs, the science behind the corals we are putting down on the sea floor and actually get to take the coral underwater while diving and plant these fragments themselves.

Behind the scenes, the I.CARE team of scientists and interns will then monitor, maintain and report on 100% of every piece of coral we put down. We collect data and report at 1 week, 1 month, and annually. Considering that we put down 1,000s of coral every year this is a tremendous amount of work but the only way to ensure long-term success.
